Angelica's 4 Month Checkup!

As promised, here's the update from Angelica's checkup today!

In good news, she's still falling right along her growth curve. She was 13 pounds, 6 ounces (50th percentile), 25 inches (80th percentile) and had a 16 inch head (50th percentile). So she's still tall and skinny with an average sized head.

The doctor was amazed at her development so far. She was very impressed by how well she holds her head up and can flip herself over...she said she'd never seen a baby do that well at only 4 months. (Little does she know, Angelica's been doing that for about a month...my girly's always gonna be ahead of the curve physically it seems).

She got her vaccinations and cracked the nurse up afterward by shooting her a dirty look. The nurse said she doesn't usually get dirty looks like that from kids until their 12 month shots.

In bad news...about a week ago, one of the daycare people noticed one of her eyes was a little swollen. I checked it out and noticed that she had a tiny lump just below her eyebrow. I asked the pediatrician about it today and she checked it out and says it seems to be a cyst...she thinks it's probably benign (she said not to worry about it being cancer or anything because it's not), but referred us to a pediatric neurosurgeon to have it checked out nevertheless. Her vision is fine, and she said it's probably on the bone and not on the eye, but if it grows it could compromise her vision. So, I've been trying to call and schedule an appointment with the place they referred us to today but I've been getting a runaround. Who knew it'd be so hard just to schedule an appointment??

Anyway, that's the update for now! She's finally sleeping after fussing pretty much all morning and early afternoon, and I'm finally getting to eat something. And now I'm going to go do some work.

Angelica is four months old today!

She's four months old today, and look how pretty! Forgive the fuzziness of these photos - I was having some camera/lighting/squirmy child issues.

We've got our four month checkup tomorrow, so stay tuned for a weight/length update and tales of the four month vaccinations. Yikes.

Here's a few more photo for your enjoyment, in the tradition of the monthly photo style...

Angelica's First Picture - 1 Year Ago

Today is the one year anniversary of this picture (our first ultrasound at 5 weeks)...

And here's a picture of her, taken today...

And as promised, here's her, playing with her toes (taken earlier this week)...

Really puts a lot in perspective, huh?

Angelica's Song

Had such a great morning today. I slept like garbage last night (I have been ever since she learned to roll over and started doing it in her sleep...I feel compelled to check on her every couple of hours, and my body forces me out of sleep to do so...), but Angelica woke up at 5:45...fed her a bottle, cuddled, played, and then snuggled and snoozed on the sofa for awhile, until I had to get ready for work. It was great.

It was a nice break from how things have been this week. She's having a rough time of it...a growth spurt combined with teething has made her really cranky. Night before last we had a four hour period of screaming that started around 8:30 or 9:00...it ended sometime after midnight, and then she was awake again at 4:15. She went down to bed around 8 last night and slept straight through to 5:45 this morning.

I haven't written about this yet, but sometime in the past week she discovered her feet. Now she plays with them all the time and tries to put them in her mouth. It's absolutely adorable. I have a picture of it, but it's still on my camera...I'll have to download it from the camera and post it soon.

Somewhere along the way today, got this song stuck in my head...haven't thought about it in years but I think it may be my new song for her. Coincidentally, the release date for this CD was a year ago yesterday.

Baby, It's alright
Stop your cryin' now

Nothing is here to stay
Everything has to begin and end
A ship in a bottle won't sail
All we can do is dream that the
wind will blow us across the water
A ship in a bottle set sail

Baby, It's alright
Stop your cryin' now

There was a weakling man
who dreamed he was strong as a hurricane
A ship in a bottle set sail
He took a deep breath and blew across the world
he watched everything crumble
woke up a weakling again

Some might tell you there's no hope in hand
just because they feel hopeless
but you don't have to be a thing like that
You'll be a ship in a bottle set sail

Baby' It's alright stop your cryin' now
It's alright so stop your cryin' now

You'll be a ship in a bottle set sail

Angelica: 1 Year Ago Today

I can hardly believe it's been a year since this picture was taken (forgive the blurriness, it was taken with my camera phone). One year ago today, at 3:10 pm, Scott and I found out that we were going to be parents for the first time. So much changed right there in that instant.

Scott and I both said instantly after I took the test that we both thought it was a girl. I guess there really is a such thing as parental instinct! Just look at that beautiful face, too. We are so lucky!

Angelica's really shaping up to have some personality, let me tell you! These days she sits in her bumbo seat, yapping away at me, giggling, pulling my hair...she's now rolling over completely (over and over and over...I often go in to check on her at night and find she's rolled over a few times in the crib)...she's teething (that's not such a joy, because she screams and cries so hard when her teeth are bothering her) and she's now discovered her feet! It's crazy how much has happened just in these three months.

Here's to a lifetime of more magical moments!

Angelica's first clothes get packed away. :(

Tonight was a bittersweet night. Now that Angelica is over 3 months old, it was time to pack up the clothes that she's worn for the first 3 months of her life to make way for the next batch of outfits. All of her 0-3 month sized outfits have been washed, sorted, and either stowed away for safekeeping or put in the "donate" pile for Aunt Stefanie to pick through for cousin Anna (the rest to be donated to charity).

Hard to believe my little girl is so big now that she's already started to outgrow stuff. Hard to believe her first year of life is already a quarter over. She's getting to be so big, so smart, and so aware of everything. She smiles and talks and coos and screams and cries.

She's also teething. It's heart-wrenching, ear-piercing, and hilarious all at the same time. If you're wondering how teething could be hilarious, here's how: my little munchkin takes just about anything she can grab onto and puts it in her mouth and goes "nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom" in little monster voice. It's like "garrrwwwwwwwwwwaarrrraaahhh". Things she puts in her mouth include: her hands, her toys, my hands, Scott's hands, her clothes, her teething ring, and she has even tried to put my face in her mouth once. She grabbed my cheeks and tried to pull it in with mouth wide open. It was funny.

The heart-wrenching part of it is when her poor teeth get so sore she screams. And screams. And screams. And nothing can console her except for her daddy. That's right. She's a daddy's girl for sure.

The cute thing she does now though is reaching for stuff. I got her a Bumbo seat, and she'll sit there and I'll hold rattles or other objects up and she'll reach out for them. She's getting the point now where she's almost always successful. She just has a little ways to go with that hand-eye coordination.

And on that note, it's back to doing some baby laundry. Sigh. My sweet little baby is growing up too quickly.

Pictures to come in the next post...

Angelica's favorite show

Okay so maybe not her favorite, but I like it!

Other than Stefanie and Will...any other parents reading this ever watch Lazy Town? Holy crap I am so addicted to it. I DVR'd a few episodes after watching my nephew dance around (sort of, despite his shyness) to a song from it and now I can't stop watching. It is probably the cutest show I've ever seen with some of the catchiest music. Like seriously, I may have to buy the soundtrack to take to the gym with me. I am 28 years old and can't stop listening to songs from a kid's show. Totally Crazy.

My favorites (other than the theme) are Twenty Times Time, You Are a Pirate, Cooking by the Book...then again, those are just the songs from the episodes I've seen so far.

Like look at this...how can you tell me this is totally not addictive??
